‘Anger as Medicine’ is a work in process cli-fi graphic novel set in 2075 Far Rockaway, NY, narrated by an elderly woman reflecting on the choices that shaped her life and the world. sheis leaving behind. From her deathbed, she traces how anger—often feared , suppressed, and misdirected—became vital medicine during the climate crises of the mid-21st century.
This installation and digital anthology imagine a desirable climate future as a world who has learned to grieve well.
By 2075, communities mourn ecological loss, honor endings, and metabolize rage with the support of Indigenous science, organic grids, and a little bit of plant magic.

Taka

They say to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Taka, short for Takot (Fear in Tagalog), has been arguing with almost everyone since they were in diapers.
Taka’s got some big emotions and an almost psychic ability to extract your deepest secrets and turn them into ...something else. This doesn’t always go over well with others and, because of this, she’s built up a tough shell and air tight relational protocol to protect her when things inevitably burst into flames. Don’t worry though, the greatest thing about Taka is they still extend warmth and hold out hope, even in the most chilling of times. -

Twin and Saturnalien, Ali is the patient one (and also the eldest, by 3 minutes).
Ali & Allin are in no way codependent or trauma-bonded. While they are often the comedic relief, they are also the most loyal friends and loving connectors between the people, planets, and their mycelium care networks. ...and if they really wanted to, they could go back to where they came from.

Mala is a highly sensitive filipina femme poly queer. She has learned to find strength in her softness, and how to be gentle in her rigidity. Once a Socio, she quickly burned them to the ground when she found out their lies, and has been fighting with The Waking ever since. Mala still has her demons and a few chips on her shoulder, but she keeps them close so that she may never again repeat the mistakes of her past.

By facing anger and imagining it as a renewable resource while embracing the interdependence needed to make lasting change, we can grow our capacities to rest and repair, tend to the ecology of our bodies, and support sustainable relationships between ourselves, earth, and future generations,

The more I sit with my deepest fears and biggest griefs, the more capacity I build for joy, connection, and care for life.
I’ve never considered myself a writer, yet here I am creating a graphic novel about the future of our world. What kind of audacity must I have to think I can do this? What delusions are required to imagine something different? Who do I think I am to believe that someone will want to read my story?
I worry that what I create won’t be impressive enough. I fear that the depth won’t translate or that the message isn’t clear. I hope that regardless of the realities of my worries, it shows you we can all do hard things if they mean enough to us and we are open to support.
My art practice is embodied grief and ritualized dreaming, most often expressed through drawing and fiber art. Embodying grief means letting myself move with the cycles of emotions that come with being present and human in our world today. Ritualizing my dreams means taking seriously and taking action toward the hopes and the heartbreaks that may not seem possible to solve yet. It also means being curious about the fantastical, the ancestral, the almost unbelieveable. For me that means making comics, crocheting soft sculptures, and weaving programming together for my community.
I used to be a designer for work, and in many ways I still am. I stopped designing because corporate structures took something that I used to enjoy, and reminded me that unless it was profitable for them, it didn’t matter. I refuse to believe we have to be miserable to survive.
This is when I found death work. Death work showed me how to live care-filled. What kind of legacy do I want to leave behind on this earth? How do I want to be remembered? Who do I want and desire to be in better relationship with? When will we actually be free?
Queer, Filipina, and raised on Luiseño Territory (Escondido, California), I ask questions like these often—inspiring unexpected connections between the ancestral, the magical, and the mundane.
