“Imagining Climate Futures” gallery opening kicks off NY Climate Week 2025

Climate Futures Studio, Ofrenda Fest, and Queens Council on the Arts were delighted to welcome over 400 guests to the opening night of “Imagining Climate Futures” on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

“Imagining Climate Futures” will run from September 18, 2025 - February 15, 2026 at 5-11 47th Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101. To arrange an appointment to view the gallery, please submit your request here.

The opening was an inspirational evening of hope, imagination, and love. It was so special to see all the family members, flowers, hugs, and smiles of our artists who have spent this year envisioning irresistible, and inevitable, climate futures for us all.

This show was made possible by Climate Futures Studio’s partnerships with Ofrenda Fest, Queens Council on the Arts, and the Center for Developing Leaders in Science. The Studio is also deeply grateful to Remix Market LIC and Materials for the Arts, who make it possible for organizations like ours — and so many other community organizations — to access pre-loved art materials, furniture, and more. We’re proud to exist within this beautiful regenerative economy.

As guests scanned QR codes in the gallery throughout the opening, they were some of the first to explore Volume II of the new Digital Anthology, found at www.climatefutures.art. All are invited to explore more about this year’s work and artists, and to learn about the real climate solutions that inspired each of our artists (found on each individual artwork page).

Climate Futures Studio is proud to partner with Grist’s Imagine 2200: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors, highlighting their artists’ work in the gallery’s Reading Room

Attendees took action inspired by the exhibition's "Climate Action Hall" with our featured organizations: Green Jobs Board, The League of Conservation Voters, Climate Cafe, Urban Ocean LabSunrise Movement, Sun Day, Grist, Extinction Rebellion, and Global Artivism.

Thanks to Yerba Madre and DIO Cocktails for sponsoring the opening's bar, Chan for bartending and DJ Chinua for lending beautiful mixes to the backdrop of the evening.

We thank the ever-growing climate storytelling community for co-creating a space with us to live in a world fifty years from today — a world rooted in care, justice, beauty, and respect for our kin, human and more-than-human.
